Caressant Care and Retirement Home Visits

Every Sunday morning, two volunteers from Holy Trinity Parish conduct a short church service and distribute Holy Communion to the Catholic residents of Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Home.

One of the volunteers leads a Catholic Church Service in a meeting room.  This volunteer reads the readings from Sunday Mass and leads the residents in some of the prayers prayed during Sunday Mass.  He/She then distributes Holy Communion to the residents who wish to receive.  This church service takes approximately 30- 45 minutes and usually about 15 to 20 residents attend.

While the first volunteer is conducting this Church Service, the second volunteer goes to the rooms and distributes Holy Communion  to the Catholic residents who are too feeble, ill or are unable (for whatever reason) to attend the church service being held  in the meeting room by the first volunteer.
Training will be provided for those interested in this ministry.  The ministry takes about 1 – 1½  hours of your Sunday morning which includes the time it takes to set up and prepare for the service.  Currently, volunteers go about once every 6 weeks or so.
