Established in 1853, ours is an historic cemetery containing the graves of founding parish and community members; including those present at the first Catholic Mass in Oxford County, celebrated in a blacksmith shop in Beachville in 1835. The cemetery also contains the remains of two relocated cemeteries: remains from the cemetery adjacent the original St. Augustine Church in Beachville, relocated after the Church was destroyed by fire in 1876; and the original Sacred Heart Cemetery located on John Street in Ingersoll, established in 1848; which was relocated in 1886 with the sale of the original church property; along with an additional 102 remains discovered on John Street and reinterred in the Hampton Street location in 2009.
